Mrs. Barton
She liked to use
Tallies
Dangled those freaking
Things like carrots
Under a horse's nose
Always tallies
Clean, pert little lines
Arbitrarily defining
Some sum total meaning
Tallies and their chalky
After taste, that's the stuff
I think of late at night.
